THE WHITE HOUSE
HOTEL The historic White House Hotel illustrates Biloxi's prominence as a summer resort beginning in the 1890's and extending into the 1960's. DD/A provided architectural design services for a proposed complete restoration of the existing building which would include reconfiguration of the original 56 guest rooms, creation of a dramatic new lobby, the addition of conference/meeting spaces of approximately 4,000 SF, and restoration of the exterior stucco facade and porches. An additional 62,000 SF of space would be provided in a new four-story, guest room tower consisting of 52 rooms, which would feature a related one-story structure with conference/meeting rooms and restaurant/bar area with heavily landscaped interior courtyards connecting the new and old. Total restoration/addition construction would encompass 107,000 SF. The $13 million complex would be restored under Historic Preservation Guidelines in conjunction with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. |
