JOSEPH A. COOK LIBRARY
University of Southern Mississippi

Hattiesburg, Mississippi

The firm provided full A/E, master planning, interior design and landscape architecture services for this five-story, 126,000 SF expansion of the main university library and renovation of 101,000 SF in the existing building.

A five-story addition was designed for the north end of the existing building, opposite the original main entrance, which required a complete reversal of internal circulation patterns and conversion of a secondary campus street into a landscaped pedestrian plaza.

The design vocabulary for the $10.038 million building was respectful of materials, scale, and style of the highest quality architecture on campus, and the design included a sensitve remodeling of the original south facade that eliminated the dated former appearance and unified the overall building character.

This project was contracted with and produced by the
predecessor entity of Dean/Dale and Dean Architects, P.A.
