600-BED MINIMUM SECURITY PRISON
Alabama Department of Corrections
Clayton, Alabama

The firm was selected to redesign this prison complex. Approval by the Alabama Legislature paved the way for construction of the Clayton facility which resulted in a savings of approximately $1.4 million to the State of Alabama over the original prison design.

Construction costs for the 13-building Clayton complex totalled $13.85 million. Features of the 182,419 SF facility include five minimum security housing units (accommodating 110 inmates each), plus complete support functions.

This project was contracted with and produced by the
predecessor entity of Dean/Dale and Dean Architects, P.A. For information regarding involvement by current DD/A staff on this project, refer to the Resumes section.
